A third Blackwork Challenge!

This is a Mamluk kerchief embroidered with blackwork. It is linen with blue silk, 25 x 24.5 cm. The linen count is 22 threads per centimetre. It is currently in the Ashmolean.

I have charted the kerchief. I think the pattern would be reversible, as most of the Mamluk designs are. Please let me know how it turns out for you.

It might not be truly reversible as it has cross stitch in it….as a border but if someone knows how to do it, would love to be taught how…

    • I think it can be reversible. Just an angled running stitch instead of straight. Lincraft are having a sale today & tomorrow so might pick up a small amount of linen to try it out. Will post pictures!
