An Ottoman dancer


This is from a miniature done in 1570 by Balázs Szigetvári Csöbör, a Hungarian in the Ottoman Empire. Please tell me if I am wrong, but I think the dancer with the castanets is male.

    Also sort of looks like they are wearing a base ball cap, although I’m sure that probably just hair…
    The top does look very straight, nothing to show breasts of any kinds…
